A lot of things led up to the initial creation of A Friend Like Me bears.  Due to Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and other conditions, in the space of 3 months I had two tubes put in place, one of which was a nasal feeding tube (which has now been replaced with a surgical feeding tube). 

During this time, a wee boy came up to me whilst I was in the hospital, incredibly excited because he had never seen an adult with a feeding tube like his before.

This got me thinking about how hard it must be for children (and some adults) who have health issues that require different types of tubes, when they can't understand why it's so important for them to have these tubes.

In a desire to help comfort and help those who need it, the bears were created.
